It is my goal and hope, as a visual art educator, to create a safe and welcoming environment, ensuring that all students feel comfortable expressing themselves through the art they create. I aim to foster an inclusive classroom where students will be encouraged to participate through inquiry and develop cognitive skills through creative learning. One way that this may be done is by exposing students to a wide range of artistic mediums as well as artists from around the world that assist to broaden students perspectives on ways in which they may engage with art in the real world. Bringing the community in the classroom, as well as stepping into the community outside of your classroom is very important in making art relevant in the lives of the students and the world in which they live in.
